The Zeus is a space-based air defense radar spacecraft system being developed by Keldysh Research Center to meet the requirements of the Russian Armed Forces. The spacecraft will be powered by a small nuclear reactor and will feature a detection radius of 4,300 kilometers detecting subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic inside and outside the atmosphere. The Zeus space radar station would provide critical information for air defense and strategic defense systems. The existence of this project was made public in May 2021 but it could be operational by 2030.

The Zeus spacecraft might be equipped with high energy lasers and electromagnetic impulse weapons in order to shoot down aircraft and missiles from space. Another application of the Zeus nuclear-powered tug spacecraft may be to transport paylods and spacecraft from Low Earth Orbits (LEO) to the Moon.
